How to Measure Your Wrist for the Perfect Tennis Bracelet Fit

How to Measure Your Wrist for the Perfect Tennis Bracelet Fit

Choosing the right size is an important part of finding the perfect tennis bracelet. A tennis bracelet should sit beautifully around the wrist, with enough room for comfortable movement but without feeling excessively loose or sliding too far down the hand.

Here’s how to measure your wrist and choose the tennis bracelet fit that’s right for you.

How to Measure Your Wrist for a Tennis Bracelet

Using a soft measuring tape, wrap it around your wrist just below the wrist bone, where you would naturally wear your tennis bracelet.

Measure snugly against the skin without pulling the tape tight. This measurement is your actual wrist size, rather than the bracelet length you should order.

If you don’t have a measuring tape, simply:

  1. Wrap a piece of string or a narrow strip of paper around your wrist.
  2. Mark the point where the ends meet.
  3. Lay it flat against a ruler and measure the length.

You can measure in either inches or centimetres.

How Much Should You Add for a Tennis Bracelet?

Once you have your wrist measurement, add a little extra depending on how you would like your tennis bracelet to sit.

Fit Add to wrist measurement How it feels
Snug fit 0.25" / 0.6 cm Sits close to the wrist with minimal movement
Comfort fit 0.5" / 1.3 cm A little room to move while still sitting neatly
Loose fit 0.75" / 1.9 cm A more relaxed fit with greater movement

For tennis bracelets, we generally find that a snug or comfort fit gives the most elegant result, as it allows the stones to sit neatly around the wrist.

What Is the Best Fit for a Tennis Bracelet?

Unlike some chain bracelets, a tennis bracelet usually looks best when it follows the shape of your wrist rather than hanging very loosely.

It shouldn’t feel tight or restrictive, but you also don’t want so much excess length that the bracelet continually turns over or slips down onto your hand.

For most people, adding approximately 0.5 inches to the actual wrist measurement creates a comfortable everyday fit.

If you prefer your bracelet to sit very close to the wrist, adding around 0.25 inches may be more suitable.

Example

If your wrist measures 6.5 inches:

Snug fit: 6.75" bracelet
Comfort fit: 7" bracelet
Loose fit: 7.25" bracelet

Should a Tennis Bracelet Move on Your Wrist?

A little movement is completely normal. Your tennis bracelet should be able to move slightly around the wrist without feeling restrictive.

However, if it slides significantly up and down your arm or regularly falls over the hand, you may find a shorter size gives a more secure and flattering fit.

The finer the tennis bracelet, the more noticeable fit can be. With delicate styles such as a 2mm tennis bracelet, a neat fit helps the continuous line of stones sit beautifully around the wrist.

What If I'm Between Tennis Bracelet Sizes?

If your ideal measurement falls between two available bracelet sizes, we generally recommend choosing the next size up.

It is usually more comfortable to have a small amount of additional movement than to wear a tennis bracelet that feels too tight.

If you're unsure which size to order, simply send us your wrist measurement and let us know whether you prefer a snug, comfortable or loose fit. We’ll be happy to recommend a size.

Finding Your Perfect Tennis Bracelet Size

The simplest way to calculate your size is:

Your wrist measurement + your preferred fit allowance = your tennis bracelet size.

Taking a minute to measure your wrist before ordering can make a big difference to how your bracelet looks, feels and sits once worn.
